Any candidate seeking a PhD at a UGC-approved university in India must publish two research papers, one in an international publication and the other in a national journal, according to UGC guidelines. In addition, the publications must be approved by the UGC. The UGC has released a full list of about 38,000 publications that will be recognized for awarding points to college and university faculty members who have papers published in them under the Academic Performance Indicators (API) system. The list of journals cover a wide range of topics including engineering, agriculture, medicine, humanities and social sciences, the environment, pharmacy, business, and ecology. Only articles published in these journals will be considered for API scores in the future. The API system offers points for publications, which are counted for promotion and also for applying for teaching roles. Publications are viewed as evidence of an academic’s active involvement in research. A person receives 30 points for publishing a book with an international publisher, 20 points for a book with a national publisher, 15 points for publishing an article in a refereed journal, and 10 points for other reputable journals.
Across the Globe, Publishing the research in reputed journals is final & most crucial step for any successful research project. The quality and crispness of the paper is the most essential element is that will determine the fate time spent in rigorous research work. Journals have started enforcing tight guidelines, including plagiarism checks and other measures to improve the quality of research projects thus the importance of Paper publication has increased in recent years. Therefore, a significant amount of mental and physical energy must be devoted in a streamlined manner in order to publish a work that is error-free in every aspect. Outright rejections occur when journal criteria and publishing protocols are not followed. The harsh truth of academic publishing is that more manuscripts are rejected than accepted. Thus publishing process can be stressful for many academics, especially first-timers.
The Most Common Causes of Paper Rejection:
- The paper is unsuitable for publication because it lacks basic information such as a title, authors, affiliations, keywords, main text, references, and all tables and figures.
- Language and grammar are not up to the mark for the peer review process.
- The figures are either missing information or are not readable.
- Incomplete or very old References used.
- The paper has been found to be plagiarized.
- The paper falls outside of the journal’s scope.
